Portsmouth Ramblers

It is now time to start submitting walks for the next walks' program. The closing date for walk submission is Sunday 17th May, 2020.

We are always on the lookout for new walk leaders. You don't need to be a 10 year veteran or have a degree in walk leading to volunteer to lead a walk. It would be great if some existing walkers tried their hand at leading a walk and added that walk to the forthcoming program. If you are a regular walker, please consider giving something back to the group and volunteer to lead a walk.

Existing Leaders

To submit a walk for the new program, go here ==>> here (opens in a new window) and Login using your email userid and password. Once logged in, select My account and then click on Group walks and event manager on the right hand side.

Note the calendars on the right highlight all the walks that have been entered into the Ramblers website; they do not highlight placeholders which have not been confirmed by Walk Program Co-ordinator.

New Leader?

In order to add walks, you need to become a contributor. To do this you need to have an account on the Ramblers website. If you do not have an account all you need to do is to go to this site and click on the Register tab  on the top of the screen. You will need to input your email address and Rambler's membership number as shown on your membership card and then create a password. When you have done this can you let the Walk Program Co-ordinator Malcolm Hagan know as he can then nominate you as a contributor. You will then receive an email from Ramblers saying you are a contributor. If you lead walks for more than one Group, for instance Portsmouth and SE Hants, the other Group can also nominate you and the same login can create walks for either Group.

The main purpose of using Walks Finder as the sole input method is to reduce the technical skills required by the coordinator in order to produce the programme as Walks Finder can now be used to directly produce the printed programme. It also allows leaders who do not have or do not know how to use a word-processor to input walks. Leaders with no internet access, mainly some Saturday leaders, will continue to send in hand written forms.

IMPORTANT - when you add a walk it is not made public until Malcolm Hagan approves it. So don't worry if you think you have made some mistakes. If you want to play with the system and add a fictional walk for practice, just put "This is a test walk" in the title of the walk. You can also re-edit your own walks.

If you need any help just get in touch with the Walk Program Co-ordinator Malcolm Hagan.

If you have lost your membership card and therefore do not know your membership number contact David Nichols, who will be able to provide the info.
